Chicken Chow Mein Opening the ancient door, I could smell the delicious, mouth-watering odour of my dad’s chicken chow mein. I absolutely like this meal because the taste of this delicious meal is quite sweet however if you add the chicken it tastes even more delicious. This meal is special to me because my dad works at a take-away and I don’t normally see him, also I would eat this mouth-watering meal on a Sunday. The reason why I would eat this mouth-watering meal on a Sunday is because that is the only day the whole family eats a whole meal together. This meal looks wonderful to eat and if you like vegetables you could have it together. Eating this meal makes you want to eat more of it because it’s so lovely and quite moist. This is a treat you would never forget because of its amiable odour, taste and attractiveness. By Katie L 6T
Smelling the brown and rich gravy I knew it was pie and mash. I looked. There it was. The pie. It looked great as it was decorated round the edge, to keep the meat in, not black but golden brown just right. After that the mash. How they do it so amazing? Scraped so it is all smooth. Pale yellow just the way it should look. The taste of the pie is mouth watering. Inside the pie is the meat. It is so delicious. Soft not hard, cut into nice little chunks. The crust on the pie with gravy gives it a little more taste. The thing that makes the pie and mash special is that it is secret recipe. I like it because it is a change from the KFC and fast food restaurants. It has a different taste from the other pies. I say it’s unique.

Crispy fried chicken
The meal I enjoy most is my mother’s crispy, juicy fried chicken. It tastes exactly like the chicken you find in professional takeaway shops. It’s as juicy and as mouth-watering as the chicken you find in KFC. It is really crispy brown and has a devouring aroma, which flows around the house. I can smell it when I’m walking home from school, the aroma flies down and around the neighbourhood. The meal is usually made on special occasions such as weddings and birthdays and sometimes even when you’re in the mood. When you bite at it, the juicy taste and the crispy coat fills your mouth with a sensational taste and it makes your tongue bubble. If you have never tried it, then I’m telling you all, you should. It’s crispy brown on the outside and it is white and juicy in the inside. When the chicken meets your eyes it makes you want to grab the whole lot. This fried chicken is crumbly on the outside but its makes your tummy hunger for it. “Honey, your meal is ready!” called my mum.

By Christina 6T Macaroni cheese Knowing that the warm macaroni cheese will be ready very soon, my taste buds begin to tingle. At last luxury approaches the dinner table. The first mouthful glides in. Chewing, what seems to be heaven, the tastes leaves itself on your tongue as you swallow. Its rich creamy taste makes you want to take a hundred more bites. The look is like pasta has been scattered all over the place, and lots of delicious stringy mature cheddar has been sprinkled on top. You just cannot resist the next bite. The warm melted smell is what really gets you. Somehow it makes you feel as if a cosy fire has been lit inside your stomach. As you take the next bite the fire gets bigger and bigger. Once everyone has finished, you really need seconds, even if you ’re full its hard to fight it away.
Devouring the mouth watering taghalathelli and slurping up the thick creamy carbonara is like a favourite sport. Even as I am writing this I feel a ripping hunger growing inside me. Although this is not half as good as the Italiano special that will warm you and melt you into heaven. The nose biting aroma of a Friday night taghalathelli as you sit down and tangle the long, thick, strands onto your fork and let the warming sensation of the carbonara slumber down your throat is AMAZING. The satisfying feeling of there being no better heaven than this will make you eat bowl after bowl of this scrumptious delight. My eyes explode when I see the mad tangle sitting upon my fork, it is as if I just want to look at it and not eat it at all. Taghalathelli is an amazing dish that everybody loves and it is an awesome feeling that you will never forget. It is special because it is a main recipe in Italy and is extremely hard to resist .
Knowing that I am going to my grandparents makes me jump for joy. Roast beef! Creamy mashed potatoes; vegetables nicer than chocolate; gravy made with steaming hot water and finally the tastiest Yorkshire puddings ever. All made by my grandparents. The smell is hypnotising you can smell it from the third floor. Beef tender and well cooked. The layout how you want it, it is like a buffet get some finish it get some more, you always have to get more, the smell is just exhilarating. Even if you are full you have to eat that last thing on your plate it is irresistible. The special thing about it is it’s perfect in every way. When you try it you will be hooked for life, never to eat someone else’s roast ever again! Andrew 6T
6B were asked to write a newspaper report on the Bough Beech trip earlier this week. The Water Treatment Trip The Y6 children from Camden Juniors went to Bough Beech Water Treatment Centre on Tuesday 13th February. They already knew a bit about how water was cleaned but yesterday they got to see it for real! The children split into groups and looked at different areas, including climbing the 23m high hill which led them to the vast reservoir. The children watched the wildlife and even went inside the valve tower! The reservoir is estimated to be 1.3km long! After lunch the groups completed a quiz to see how much they had learnt. "I liked climbing the hill and learned so much, things like we use an average of 170 litres each per day, and it takes one litre of water to make a chocolate bar!" said Tania. The teachers thought it was a great day too – although there were a few sicky children on the coach!. Tania A
WET AND WILD TRIP FOR THE KIDS! On Tuesday 13th February class 6B from Camden Junior School enjoyed a scientific trip to find out about our water by visiting Bough Beech Water Treatment Centre. After a long trip many children climbed out of the coach with smiley faces of relief while the odd few climbed out with pale, ill faces. What we can assure you is Mrs Bullen, the class teacher, looked very relieved after a long, stressful trip. She said, "I’m very glad to be free from sick buckets and bored children!" Next Mrs Bullen had to get the children into the facility with all their belongings. Harder then it sounds! One girl was reunited with a glove left on the coach, before they all got in. After that they hung up their bags, met their tour guides and visited the toilets. ‘Wellies on’ was the next step. One girl, Nancy W, managed to lose a welly. She said, "I don’t know how it happened! I had it in school!" So she had to wear her trainers. Mrs Bullen laughed, "Nancy is a bright yet dopey child. Sometimes I don’t know what planet she’s on!" The children then hiked up a hill to see the actual reservoir. When they reached the top the mud-splattered children all gawped at the huge reservoir. They found out the actual length of the dam is a shocking 1.3km and the depth is 23metres. Then the children looked at the water pumps. After that the children walked back down the hill. One child, Lucy S, said, "I was amazed at the overflow tank. It was quite scary!" The children then watched as they pumped water back into the River Eden. Finally the children got changed back into their indoor shoes and Nancy found her missing welly. The children then saw the steps for cleaning water and these are some of the children’s comments: "Wow, amazing!" "Eurghh, yuck!" "It stinks!" Eventually, the children ate their lunches while the teachers drank a well-deserved coffee. I spoke to the group leader, Mrs Garner. "These children are quite attentive although chatty." Then they did a quiz to see how much they learned. Surprisingly most children got quite high marks. Then they all left for school. Mrs Bullen said, "This day will help tremendously with our project and I hope the children got a lot out of it." At school 6B will do a newspaper report on the day out and some letters of thanks to Bough Beech. By Nancy W 6B Brief report on the recent performance at Carshalton Girls School ![]()

News Report on Y6 trip to Bough Beech HELLO AND GOOD BOUGH! On Tuesday 13th February 2007, 6B of Camden Junior School, visited Bough Beech Reservoir in Kent to learn more about water treatment for their recent study of rivers and water. All of the pupils came prepared with a lunchbox, suitable clothing and Wellington boots for their trip up the dam. Over the course of the day 6B visited the treatment works and talked about how water is and should be used. Having brought a packed lunch by the time 12:30 came all of the pupils were starving and gleefully tucked into their nutritious lunches. Later that afternoon the pupils had to do a quiz to see how much they had learned. Then after a brief talk on water conservation we found out how the pupils rated today’s events. A pupil, Scott H said, "I enjoyed this trip a lot. Who knew finding out about water could be so much fun?" Another pupil, named Anthony K, said, "I really had a lot of fun, especially climbing the dam wall and walking through the tunnel under the reservoir. I really enjoyed the trip!" So it seems that all of the pupils had a good time. There were only few casualties yesterday, as three people were sick on the coach, but apart from that everyone had fun. At the end of the day I talked to one of the teachers at Bough Beech, Mrs Garner. She said, "The pupils were very well behaved today and they seemed to enjoy themselves too." So a great day was had by all! By Bradley W Work by Ieuan 6X

Water by Jacob C 6X Water can be a good thing. It helps you get your energy, you wash in it and it’s healthy. However, it can be extremely perilous. It can destroy houses and even kill people. Water is more dangerous than it looks. Far, far away in the ocean, six dauntless, bold men set out for a bone-shattering journey around the world. Although they may seem fearless, they all seem to have one weakness—water. One night was the true test and surely the memories will haunt them for the rest of their lives. One bitterly cold day, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, everything was going well, until this very day. Christmas. One of the worst times to have a shipwreck. Until this very moment, the ship was clean, the sun was spreading a wonderful gleam in the sky and the birds were singing. However, all that changed. Suddenly, the clouds turned black, the birds stopped singing and the sun said a farewell and then ran behind the clouds for shelter. As I turned round, something hit the boat. Lightning? Cautiously I crept along the boat, my heart pounding as if it was telling me to get out of here. But I couldn’t. I was trapped. I was trapped in a monster’s mouth. I glanced round and saw that the floorboards were demolished. How much longer could I survive? A cold shiver ran down my back as lightning hit the boat. I looked at the sky and said a prayer. As soon as I’d finished I ran the full length of the boat. Surprisingly no one was hurt. Yet. Without a second’s thought I took another small boat and told my team to follow me. However, I then realised I was the only one left. I jumped into the escape boat and wept. I’d lost everything in the space of ten minutes. Would my luck hold out?
