In September 2005 RHJ's lunchtime Allotment Club won a borough prize for the best Wildlife Garden. The children had been developing this garden in one of our inner quads over several years and spurred on by their success declared that they needed a second garden as they didn't have enough growing space for their vegetables. |

They were given permission to clear and develop a neglected overgrown patch of land to the rear of our hall and with their input and some hard digging by staff and governors our Eco Garden began to take shape. |

Robin Hood Junior School is very grateful to Golfrate for agreeing to sponsor our garden and to B&Q for providing the "recycled" garden swings that were used to construct our raised planting beds. Thank you also to Mr Jones (parent) who devoted hours of his own time to the project, to Mr Wing (parent) for constructing the raised beds and all other volunteers who lent a hand |

In May 2006 the garden was completed and officially opened by the Mayor. Seen here planting our first season's crop. |

Our organic Eco Garden has five raised vegetable beds allowing for crop rotation & companion planting. In 2006 we grew onions, tomatoes, garlic, cucumber, courgettes, peas, chillies, corn, squash, french beans, marrow, rhubarb & strawberries. |
||
We have a well stocked herb bed and a compost area where we compost down the school's fruit and vegetable waste. |

Our Eco Garden offers a wonderful outdoor learning environment and supports many areas of the curriculum typically environment topics, habitats, plant growth patterns, water uses and drought as well as Maths (measuring and data handling) and Art (light and shade, texture and still life) |
